What I Do

My work covers general household repairs, maintenance and improvements.

I’m happy to do many things, from the small jobs like changing tap washers, hanging things on walls and changing light bulbs all the way up to large projects like kitchen and bathroom refurbishment.  See below for more detail of what I do.

I charge an hourly or daily rate, depending on the size of the job, plus materials.  I’m happy to give an estimate of cost before I start work.

General
Assembling flat-pack furniture
Putting up shelves, pictures, mirrors
Fitting or replacing locks and handles
Changing doors (internal and external)

Plumbing
Changing tap washers or the taps themselves
Changing fill and flush valves in toilets
Change toilets, sinks, basins and baths
Investigate and fix problems with showers
Change valves and radiators on central heating
Note – I’m not Gas Safe registered so I can’t work on gas appliances

Electrical
Change light bulbs, including changing for LED bulbs
Change light fittings and sockets
Replace broken electrical appliances
Note – I’m not Part P registered so I can’t do work that requires registration

Tiling
Wall and floor tiling, either on their own or as part of a larger job

Flooring
Laying laminate, engineered wood and real wood flooring

Painting and Decorating
Interior painting and decorating, including wallpaper

Unusual
I like variety in my work and do occasionally get asked to do things outside of the normal range of things.  Here are a few examples of the less common things I’ve done:
Building a rabbit run with 3 hutches connected by a tube system
Designing a number of handrails for less able people and fitting them after getting them made
Putting up totem pole type sculptures made by local children
